Checklist 5: Master Your Meds Like a Pro

Checklist 5: Master Your Meds Like a Pro

1. Prescription in English

Do you have a prescription in English?

✔️ Great! This will help you avoid issues in pharmacies and ensures clear communication.
⚠️ Ask your IVF clinic or doctor to transcribe it into English to avoid confusion when filling it locally or abroad.

2. Pharmacy Availability

Have you contacted pharmacies to check medication availability?

✔️ Perfect! That way you can avoid last-minute surprises or ordering delays.
⚠️ Call your local pharmacy and confirm if they have your medication or if it needs to be ordered.

3. Online Pharmacies

Have you considered online pharmacies?

✔️ Good! Just make sure to check prices, delivery times, and reviews before ordering.
⚠️ Compare online pharmacies for availability and pricing — it may be a useful backup option.
⚠️ Attention: Never purchase medication from private individuals, social media, or unverified websites.
Such transactions are often illegal and carry serious health risks — medicines may be expired, counterfeit, or improperly stored.
Always obtain your medication from licensed pharmacies or directly through your IVF clinic.

4. Expiration Dates

Did you check the expiration dates and amounts?

✔️ Excellent! You’re on top of it — no stress during travel.
⚠️ Check each box for expiration dates and make sure you have enough for the full cycle.

5. Equivalents

Do you know if your medication is available in your country?

✔️ Excellent! Be sure to double-check medication names and ingredients. Sometimes the same drug is sold under a different brand or generic name in other countries.
⚠️ Ask your clinic or pharmacist about equivalent medications. Never assume a name means the same formulation in different countries.

6. Dosage

Are you sure you have the correct dose and number of units?

✔️ Great! Knowing your dosage prevents delays or errors once treatment begins.
⚠️ Review your treatment plan and double-count the units. Ask your clinic to confirm if you're unsure — it's better to be safe than under-supplied.

7. Application

Have you practiced how to apply the shots?

✔️ Wonderful! Having confidence in the application process will make treatment days less stressful.
⚠️ Set aside 15 minutes per injection to practice and watch tutorial videos. Ask your clinic for guidance or a demo if needed.

8. Instructions

Do you fully understand the medication instructions?

✔️ Excellent! Understanding the protocol ensures better accuracy and confidence.
⚠️ Clarify with your IVF coordinator. Try explaining the protocol in your own words to confirm you’ve understood correctly.

9. Time Zone

Have you clarified what time zone your medication schedule follows?

✔️ Great! This will help avoid confusion and keep your medication schedule on track, especially when traveling.
⚠️ Speak with your clinic to confirm if instructions follow their local time or your home time — syncing is critical.

10. Start Date

Are you 100% sure of the medication start date?

✔️ Awesome! Starting on the right day is key to your protocol’s success.
⚠️ Confirm your start date with the clinic. Set reminders and check timezone alignment if traveling.
